The Island Litter II - Week 3

January 9 - Hard to believe it's been 3 weeks already.  A new "challenge" was added this week - goat's milk !  The puppies all got to experience trying to eat goat's milk out of a pie plate.  It was a whole new experience, with the puppies walking in, falling in, and eventually drinking their meal.  We've also had our first "jail break" of the litter, with first Martinique and then Bart figuring out how to get out of the whelping box. The puppies had a tremendous number of visitors this week and both Saba and her puppies responded very well to all the different people coming by. Stay tuned for more updates!

Skyland Martinique - Female, 3 lbs 0.25 oz, birth weight: 14.5 oz Martinique seems to the puppy seeking out people.  You often find her at the front of the box, looking like she wants to be picked up. Martinique is named after the island of Martinique, one of the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles.

Skyland Nevis - Male, 3 lbs 3.75 oz, birth weight: 13 oz Nevis are starting to seem like the "cuddly" dog - often falling asleep in your arms. Nevis (pronounced Neevis) is named for the island of Nevis, a 36-square-mile island lies near the top of the Lesser Antilles archipelago, about 200 miles south of Puerto Rico.

Skyland Bartholomew (Bart)- Male, 3 lbs 10.25 oz, birth weight:14.25oz Bart is our largest puppy and seems to like nothing more than just snuggling with his siblings or his humans. He's confident enough, even when held on his back. Bart is named for St. Barths, an island about 240 miles west of Puerto Rico, and is one of the Windward islands in the the Lesser Antilles..

Skyland Montserrat- Male, 3 lb 9.5 oz, birth weight: 13.5 oz Montserrat is a very confident dog, and has been practicing his "bark" whenever he hears the big dogs barking. Montserrat is named for the island of Montserrat, an island that is part of the Leeward islands of the Lesser Antilles.

Skyland Aruba- Female, 3 lb 0.25 oz, birth weight: 12 oz Aruba is a very active and vocal puppy.  You certainly know when she is eating based on the sounds from the whelping box ! Aruba is named after the island of Aruba, an island in the Lesser Antilles which, along with Bonaire and Curacao are called the "ABC Islands".
