Puppies !!!!

September 24 - Skyland Hapuna (or maybe Statia - the name is still TBD) - Female, birth weight: 14.5 oz Hapuna beach is a located on the Big Island of Hawaii Statia is named after the island of Statia, or St. Eustatius, which, along with Saba, is a part of the Netherland Antilles.   Puna (Statia) is going to live with Val and Andy in Amherst, MA   Before going home, Statia decided to try life as a brunette... apparently, it's gentic Atlin and Statia                     June 27 - It's hard to believe 8 weeks went by so quickly.  Most of the puppies have already arrived at their new homes.  We certainly have mixed emotions today - while we are sad to be "puppy free", it's so nice to welcome 5 new families into the Chinook community.  We enjoyed getting to know each of the new owners a little better today, and look forward to seeing them, and the pups at Chinook events in the future. Skyland Hartford (formerly Maarten) - Male, 15 lbs 14 oz;  birth weight: 15.5 oz Hartford is named for the city of Hartford, where the puppy owners went to school. Maarten is named for the island of St. Maarten, the smallest land mass in the world to be shared by two different nations. Only 37 square miles are owned by France and the Netherlands Antilles.  It is the jumping off point to reach the island of Saba. Hartford is going to live with Jarvis Coffin and Ellie Wierzbowski in Massachusetts

Skyland Leo (formerly Croix) - Male, 13 lbs 4.8 oz;  birth weight: 14.8 oz Croix is named for St. Croix, the largest of the US Virgin Islands. Leo is going to live with Peggy Kipp, here in New Jersey

Skyland Sabino Cuculann "Culann" (formerly Caicos)- Male, 15 lbs 5.2 oz;  birth weight: 1 lb 1.06 oz Sabino (which means red) is the Indian Chief's given name during the first settlement at Popham Beach area.  Cuculann is a Gaelic Mythological boy whom fought off and killed a huge hound with his bare hands - the dog was most definitely going to kill the boy.  The dog's master was extremely upset and asked the boy who would help protect his belongings....the boy said he would and was renamed Cuchulainn which means hound of Chulainn Caicos is named for the Turks and Caicos islands, a group of 40 islands and cays (8 of which are inhabited) just below the Bahamas. Culann is going to live with the McCollett family in Maine

Skyland Harper (formerly John)- Male, 15 lbs 1.6 oz;  birth weight: 15.2 oz Harper is named for the author, Harper Lee, author of "To Kill a Mockingbird". John is named after the island of St. John, the smallest of the US Virgin Islands. Harper is going to live with the Reed family in Georgia
